A few years back, we met while on our way to Goecha La – a high altitude Himalayan trek in Sikkim, India. Little did we know that life would become an exhilarating journey from then onwards. In the last couple of years, we have traveled to a lot of places (in India and abroad) and gone back to the mountains, again and again, sharing a common love for the quaint Himalayan towns and Lemon-Honey-Ginger tea!
No, we didn’t really quit our jobs to travel. In fact, we are on a quest of learning how to balance our regular work schedules and our passion for traveling. We usually hop from one place to another, seeking new adventures, meeting new people, and fueling our ‘wanderlust’. You’ll mostly find us sitting at mountainside cafes on weekends, binging on momos and Maggi but occasionally, we love to get drunk on beaches as well!
As one of us has the zeal to write and the other can’t just let go of the lens, we thought to compile our backpacking stories and unwind the tales for all other enthusiastic travelers like you.
A little more about Riyanka!
An absolute foodie and a die-hard ‘mountain-aholic‘, Riyanka loves to read and write! (Give her a book and she’ll love you all the more!) She loves to believe in the miracles of destiny and wants to travel to places, near & far, spend time with the natives, binge on local food and absorb their culture. Life, she feels, is like a book and whatever we do adds more chapters to it. She enjoys writing about her experiences, and whatever comes her way, for she believes that each and every bit helps in making the chapters more colorful.
And she says, “I want to have the most amazing stories in my book of life so that by the time I turn 60, I can sit back, relax, and enjoy flipping through my own pages.”
You can read more about Riyanka’s adventures and experiences, thoughts, and monologues in Life Hack, Tripoto, Elephant Journal, Thrive Global, The Better India, Travelettes, Thought Catalog, Huffington Post, Maptia.
A Little More About Rijuman!
A Biology concept developer & medical coach by profession, Rijuman has been following his passion for photography and working as an integral part of Photographians – a boutique candid wedding photographers’ team!
Back in 2013, RD did his first trek to Phoktey Dara in West Sikkim, and since then, he has done several high altitude treks including Sandak Phu- Phalut, Roopkund Lake, Kedarkantha Snow Trek, Goechala, Prini Peak, Nag Tibba, Taktsang Monastery (Bhutan) and more. Madly in love with his Canon 6D Mark II, you’ll always find him capturing whatever catches his interest. (About 99.9% of the photographs you would see are taken by him – No Kidding!)
Oh and not to forget, he’s the planner for most of the backpacking trips – he’s actually brilliant at it…!!!
“There’s no end to learning”, he believes. And as RD would say, he’s in a quest of learning more about his inner self, every journey turns out to be a new lesson for him.
